Dr. AdelsbergDr. Bernard Adelsberg has been at Hamden Internal Medicine and Allergy Associates since 1991. He is an attending in Medicine at both the Hospital of St. Raphael and Yale New Haven Hospital.

He graduated from Harvard University with honors in 1968. He then attended the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center and received his M.D. Degree in 1972. He completed an internship and residency training program in Internal Medicine in 1975. He pursued his interest in immunology by completing a fellowship in Molecular Immunology at the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation, La Jolla, California. During his fellowship at the Scripps Clinic, he was supported by an award from the National Institutes of Health.

In 1978, he returned to New York City and joined the staff of the Beth Israel Medical Center. In 1980, he was recruited by the Mount Sinai Medical Center to participate in their newly formed Division of Clinical Immunology. During his stay at Mt. Sinai, he was the Assistant Director of the Allergy and Immunology Training Program. In 1984, he became the Acting Chief of the Division and in 1985, was made Assistant Professor.

Dr. Adelsberg left Mt. Sinai Hospital in 1987 to become the Chief of Allergy and Immunology at Nassau County Medical Center and Associate Professor of Medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

Dr. Adelsberg is the author of more than 50 scientific publications and 4 book chapters. His fields of interest and expertise include allergic rhinitis (hayfever), asthma, urticaria (hives) and vasculitis.

He has been Board Certified by three national boards: Internal Medicine, Allergy and Immunology and Diagnostic Laboratory Immunology.
